For some reason, I decided to take the word Midnight as assigned and represent each letter in the word with the corresponding number as it appears in the alphabet.
M(13)+ I(9)+D(4)+N(14)+I(9)+G(7)+H(8)+T(20)
13+9+4+14+9+7+8+20= 84 and 8+4= 12
A coincidence? Strange. So many examples raced through my mind. Here are several:
12 months
12 Days of Christmas
12 Apostles
The 12 breads
12 meaning Cosmos
And the midnight hour...
Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven"Once upon a midnight dreary, as I pondered weak and weary"
Cinderella and her deadline (something positive transformed out of that, if you don't believe in divorce)
"Listen my children and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere" (Henry Wordsworth Longfellow)
Woody Allen's newest film: "Midnight in Paris" (brilliantly imaginative)
Midnight is precisely the half-way mark between one day and the next. A mega-second determines the difference. I happen to love the midnight hour since it really begins a new day. Though it may seem dark at first, it is only to get lighter at dawn to yet another beautiful day that He has created for us.
A new beginning to let our troubles dissipate from the day before.
The meaning of 12 midnight is all in the eye of the Beholder. It can be positive, or negative and frightening. To me it is simply and spiritually magical.
"A mega-second determines the difference." Yep, absolutely. And like you, I find midnight to be a magical and spiritual time.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post and agree! I don't really like being awake at midnight, as I prefer my 8 hours of sleep, but am grateful for another day...nice!
ReplyDeleteFor me--midnight is when the new day begins. It is the most energetic time of the day...when the hush and whirl of the earth turning can be heard if you just stop and listen (okay--but I like to thinks so!)
ReplyDeleteWonderfully done!!
Cheers, Jenn.
